Pure Joy: Perfect

So it has been said that I can be too serious. I was reading Chapter 7 of Christopher Ash's book 'Pure Joy' today and realised that I can be joy-less often. It's a good book because it has very short chapters! We live in a dark world, plagued with sin, our own actions and thoughts are plagued with self-centredness i.e. not God-centredness and therefore sin! Sometimes with a serious mindset it can be hard to rise above this and not be dragged down into spiritual depression, somehow not having joy in God. I some how think I've been here a lot. I carry around a burden of being a wretched sinner and don't preach to myself that Jesus has done it all, and He's made me perfect.

For by one sacrifice he has made perfect for ever those who are being made holy.
Hebrews 10 v 14

To God I stand perfected by the work of Jesus. What a truth to dwell upon! So He's making me holy (a process) but He's made me perfect in His sight through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. Both these truths are amazingly good news. I know I'm not perfect, yet in His sight I have the status that Jesus has given me. Amazing grace here in these words in Hebrews. Will I give them my full focus and attention this week??!
Will you? Do you need to hear this too?

This perfection needs no more sacrifice. If that were neccessary then I would need to keep coming back and I would never be free to enter into God's presence. What Jesus has done for me means that I can draw near to God.

Reason for Joy! Praying that I would dwell on the awesomeness of Jesus sacrifice and be thankful and believe that he has made me perfect in His sight and is making me holy. Me becoming holy is not something I can be proud about or anything because it is His work in me. Again...amazing! What joy compares to this?
Praying that you would know this to be true for you too.

Grace and peace
